Description
Ocean Footprint – TCT Circular Saw Blades
Ocean Footprint has been working with our trusted partners and customers on a range of products that meet the requirements of boat building. We are working with some of the best engineers in the world to fine-tune our own product range to improve quality by 25% and offer a cost-saving of 15%, and with our TCT Saw Blades range we have done just that
…very highest quality tungsten carbide-tipped blades…
Cold saw blades are circular metal cutting saw blades categorized into two types: solid HSS or tungsten carbide-tipped (TCT). Both types of blades are sharpen able and may be used many times before being discarded. Ocean Footprint has opted for the very highest quality tungsten carbide-tipped blades manufactured to a very precise tolerance.
They are called “cold saw blades” because they transfer all the energy and heat created during the cutting process to the chip. This enables the blade and the work material to remain cold.
…improve quality by 25% and offer a cost saving of 15%…
At the inception of Ocean Footprint, we agreed to work with our most important customers, whom we like to call “partners”, and develop a range of products that are specifically designed to make the process of boat building cheaper, easier, and more efficient. With this range of TCT Saw Blades, we took a base product and looked at the way that the market leaders product was used.
We listened and then made some simple well-considered adjustments to the product, tested the results and then refined our product until it met the exacting requirements of our partners. At every stage of our supply chain, we have done everything to maximise the product quality and at the same time adopted lean processes to reduce the cost. We are proud of what we have achieved here.
…refined our product until it met the exacting requirements of our partners…
The outcome is a range of blades that we are proud to have our stamp of approval written all over it, we are now supplying our blades to boatyards all over the world and the feedback is fantastic. We are getting longer use from our blades and this, in turn, offers our customers an additional saving not a part of our initial brief. Although developed for use in Aluminium boat building, this product is also suitable for use on wood and MDF
…added additional manufacture time to improve the tip setting process…
We increased the size of the Tungsten Carbide-Tipped Teeth and added additional manufacture time to improve the tip setting process, we looked at the pitch of the teeth to allow for less pull and push when grinding. Our goal is to get the most use from each blade to improve the productivity of your workflow and maximise the effectiveness of your skilled team
tips are ground on all surfaces to create tangential and radial clearance and provide the proper cutting and clearance angles
Our tungsten carbide-tipped saw blades (TCT), are made with an alloy steel body and tungsten carbide inserts brazed to the tips of the teeth. These tips are ground on all surfaces to create tangential and radial clearance and provide the proper cutting and clearance angles on the teeth.
The tungsten carbide tips are capable of operating at much higher temperatures than solid HSS, therefore, TCT saw blades are usually run at much higher surface speeds. This allows carbide-tipped blades to cut at faster rates and still maintain an acceptable chip load per tooth. These blades are commonly used for cutting non-ferrous alloys but have gained significant popularity for ferrous metal cutting applications in the last 10 years.
The tungsten carbide inserts are extremely hard (98 HRC) and capable of very long wear life
These blades were made in collaboration with one of our trusted customers the Wight Shipyard
